Tourism is the leading economy of Oberstaufen in the Allgäu. It brings a range of added values to the town for its inhabitants, the regional economy and the municipality of Markt Oberstaufen. However, like many other destinations, Oberstaufen must manage to secure and promote the success, but also the acceptance of tourism and the support for its further development against the background of diverse challenges.
Challenges for the future include demographic change, the shortage of skilled workers, the need for a sustainable economy and competitive infrastructure and organizational development in Oberstaufen tourism.
For Oberstaufen Tourismus Marketing GmbH (OTM), the NIT has compiled all tourism and location-related data relevant for Oberstaufen in a study published at the beginning of 2022. It identifies “affectednesses” on the part of the shaping actors, scope for action and the tasks and responsibilities on the part of the municipality, local politics, the tourism industry as well as the marketing organization are elaborated. The OTM uses the brochure for internal marketing as well as for various purposes of accompanying communication of its infrastructural, marketing-relevant and organizational measure implementations.
